Economic inequality is common in India, and the divide between the affluent and the disadvantaged is widening, and concerning. In India, poverty is widespread and deep-rooted, so the work of volunteers and interns is essential to helping men, women and children from disadvantaged communities. All our volunteer in India projects are focused on community development; from child development projects to healthcare or women empowerment in India, there are numerous ways to contribute to making a sustainable difference in India. Kaya also provides student volunteer programs in India available to under 18 year olds, for those looking for life-changing experiences and hands-on practical experience, such as teaching English in India or volunteering at an orphanage.
Our India projects are based in and around Jaipur or Goa, and there are plenty of ways to spend your spare time in each of these destinations. Known for its architecture, history and culture, Jaipur is a lively, colorful city. History lovers should visit the City Palace in Jaipur’s Old Town or the stunning Amber Fort which overlooks the city. Experience the hustle and bustle of the city by exploring one of Jaipur’s bazaars. Jaipur plays host to a multitude of markets and craft stalls, selling everything from jewelry to textiles to street food. There’s an astronomical amount of places to eat in Jaipur for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike, with vegetarian thali available alongside Jungle Maas. If you do an internship in India and you’re a lover of food, you will never go hungry.
Those based in Goa should take advantage of its iconic white sandy beaches and clear blue ocean. There is a great range of watersport activities to take part in, so parasail, jet ski, snorkel or simply enjoy some time relaxing in the sun. For some time away from the beach, why not visit Calangute with its bars and restaurants. You can also organize a weekend trip to Mumbai if Bollywood tempts you!

TELEPHONE INTERVIEW
Once we’ve received your application, we’ll review your details and be in touch to arrange your informal telephone interview with your Kaya Placement Advisor.
CONFIRMATION
Following your interview, we will provide you a placement offer. Once you are ready to confirm your placement and dates, you can pay your confirmation fee to book and secure your space.
GET PREPARED
When you have confirmed your project dates we'll send you your Welcome Pack and lots of other helpful information to assist you with preparing for your placement.
