Attracting a young crowd, this cultural volunteering experience in Goa will begin with a week-long cultural and sightseeing orientation travelling down to Goa from Mumbai by the great Indian railway. Activities in the first week include a 2-day yoga and meditation workshop, a Bollywood film show, and a 2-day adventure trek staying in a rural Indian village.
During your second week in Goa, you will start to undertake a number of volunteering initiatives based in child care and development. Child care and attention is at a critical level in rural areas of Goa with many children unable to receive adequate support. Teaching or help in those all important early years for a healthy and prosperous future is vital. As a result, many child care centres have been established to ensure the healthy growth and stimulation of children in rural areas. Volunteers are an essential tool for promoting a good and solid education whilst increasing Goa’s children’s future prospects regardless of whether this may be in structured school setting or in a local fisherman’s hut on the beach. Your time will be spent both volunteering and exploring the sights and sounds of Goa’s beaches and incredibly laid back atmosphere so this is perfect for the volunteer who wants ample rest and relaxation on Goa’s beaches.
Mother Teresa once said: “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love” and this is exactly what we are asking from volunteers for cultural volunteer program in Goa. While you will experience a great Indian railway journey, cultural outings and lots of free time exploring Goa’s beaches you will also experience some of the hardships which the locals of Goa come up against in their everyday lives.
Throughout the state, there are a huge number of underprivileged children and young adults who are seeking extra educational support, one-on-one attention, and help with their own personal development and growth. Staff are often overrun with duties and volunteers are needed to ease this burden as well as providing their own warmth and care to the wonderful children and young adults of Goa. You will get the chance to teach, develop, care, love and most importantly, give back to the inhabitants of Goa.
Project Location
Goa, a former Portuguese colony, is well known for its beautiful beaches and luscious palm trees and has a distinct cultural vibe with its own unique music, food and climate.
