Volunteer abroad with Kaya in Costa Rica and get hands-on teaching experience with children who will really benefit from international instruction. English as a second language is becoming more and more important in Costa Rica, especially in those areas where tourism is the main source of income for rural communities.
The protected areas of Costa Rica are visited by thousands of tourists each year which leave the country satisfied at providing incredible experiences for all to enjoy. Part of this experience for visitors is with the contact they have from locals in different areas of the country. The attitude that the “ticos” have toward the tourists is ultimately, what makes it more rewarding for foreigners to visit the country. With your help, more locals can communicate with these tourists, improving their English and therefore their interactions with others.
Due to the influx of tourists to Costa Rica, we consider it incredibly important to support the communities where tourism is deeply rooted to give them the necessary tools to improve their work. We are committed to developing not only English skills, but also musical skills in the local music school for children and adults who come to learn and/or practice how to play an instrument. As a volunteer with Kaya, you can provide your knowledge, support and musical abilities to the wonderful communities in Pochote.
