Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to find out what I want to do with my life. Without this I would still wonder what I want to do, now I know.

  • Natalia Maraeva

    Medical Project in South Africa
I had an amazing time in Cape Town. The project was brilliant, I loved working there with the kids and I got so attached to them, it was not easy to leave. This hospital is a really good place to work and I'm pretty sure that it needs volunteers all the time.

The volunteers' house is a perfect place for young people, it was so much fun! I made good friends with some of the other volunteers, it was wonderful.

  • Gloria Hong

    Medical Mission Trek in Vietnam
"I really enjoyed interacting with all of the doctors, nurses, patients, and villagers. I felt that although my medical skills at the time were quite limited, the experience really helped me to see what I could do once I receive my medical education. I feel that the patients were very appreciative of the care that they received and that the doctors in the clinic were really open to additional help. I think this experience will really help to motivate me in medical school. Our tour guide and cook were very nice, informative, and helpful during our stay in Vietnam."

  • Daniel Hong

    Medical Mission Trek in Vietnam
"Living with actual members of the villages definitely contributed to my experience. We got the opportunity to communicate with the locals and even join them in a game of soccer. The best parts of the project were the food, the culture, and the job shadowing opportunity. A definite highlight was volunteering at the large hospital in Mai Chau. It was during this portion of the trip when I realized how resourceful this country is in terms of treating its patients."

  • Jessica Ledieu

Rural Teaching and Community Work in Tanzania
"There are so many highlights to choose from but if I have to choose it would be some of the weekend activities we got to do including a trip to one of our students villages. Local meal nights which we would have once a week were very interesting as we would go to a locals house sit on the floor eat with our hands and be trying the local delicacies. Also when Bikidude a very famous old lady in Zanzibar who sings and plays bongos came to Jambiani for a concert. It was amazing! I can't forget all the children who were absolutely beautiful as well.

On top of that, I have gained an amazing insight into the way people live and it has changed my perspective on things."

  • Conor Turner

Work in a Public Hospital in Nepal
"In my 5 weeks volunteering I managed to see a great number of cases and the doctors are very good at explaining things to us and letting us watch them. I have learnt a huge amount and it was good to form a relationship with the doctors so you could learn what they really thought about the hospital and the patients. I think it would be invaluable experience to anyone who is looking to apply to medical school."

  • Matt Crawford

    Small Business Development in Ghana
"I'm fairly sure that coming out here was a fantastic decision, its been a relentless but worthwhile few days since I got here on Saturday morning. I'm still getting used to the local customs and can't seem to work the taxis without getting confused, but its all part of the fun. My project is looking extremely interesting, I'll be trying to turn a few bags made at a school into a profitable and sustainable business project. Here's hoping that I can get it right!

The project is incredibly unique, the homestay is unforgettable and the place has a wonderful tranquility in a noisy sort of way.

I wanted to make sure that you know how much I appreciate all the work that you and everyone at Kaya has done for me. It would be easy to take it for granted seeing as we never actually meet you but this is me thanking you so much. Thanks one more time for all your help, I certainly don't think I would have made it into the country without you!"

  • Ryoko Sakai

Children’s Outreach Providing Education for Child Labour at the Markets in Ecuador
"I have fallen in love with Ecuador. It was so different a place than I expected and it was great timing to go there and great to do two volunteer projects. Everything was so great and it was lovely to feel the Ecuadorian happy people and culture, I learned so many beautiful things in Quito!

The things I have learned in a developing country are totally different to home in California. My Quito experience changed me to think about life's ordinary things and their importantness. Now I feel I can be happy just being with people who love me as I am, and I can give love to others.

I still don't know what I will do with my future, but I will be happy becuase I have found what is important in my life. I definitely want to go back to Quito soon, it was the best vacation I ever had!"
