Free Sri Lanka Visa Starting Next Month

From May 1st, 2019, Sri Lanka authorities will roll out a free Sri Lanka visa period for visitors.
As a result, free visa entry will be granted to EU citizens, US citizens, UK citizens and citizens of other countries. 


What does this entail?

Thirty-nine countries are now on the visa-on-arrival programme. This visa system is being tested for the next six months from May 1 to subsequently boost tourist arrivals in the country. As such, visa-free entry to Sri Lanka is to be granted to participants from the UK, Canada, the US, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and some EU countries.

As a consequence, if you book your travel dates with an arrival date between May 1st and October 31st, 2019, you are saving $35. Note that this initiative may be extended to additional nationalities. How long will my visa be valid for?

All visas issued are valid for a period of 30 days although it can be extended for a period of up to 6 months.
