- Laboratory Internship in Morocco
What is the Laboratory Internship in Morocco all about?
During your placement, you will be placed at a private laboratory, shadowing and working under the supervision of 2-3 laboratory staff members. This placement will provide you with an insight into the workings of a laboratory in an inter-cultural setting. The laboratory performs a variety of functions, including blood testing, COVID-19 testing, and testing for diseases such as diabetes.
Why choose this Laboratory Internship programme in Morocco?
This internship is ideal for anyone studying or recently graduated in the field of biomedical sciences, and seeking experience in a clinical laboratory setting. You will gain a deeper understanding of lab processes by observing the local doctors and laboratory assistants as they perform their daily tasks.
Internships in a laboratory are relatively uncommon, particularly in the MENA region. The lab is keen to accept international students who are interested in furthering their knowledge of the biomedical field, whilst providing support and assistance to the medical staff.
Not only is this a unique opportunity to enhance your CV/resume, but you can also improve your language skills by adding Arabic or French classes to your program (at an additional cost). If interested, please speak to your placement advisor so this can be arranged in advance of your placement.
Role of the Laboratory Intern
Your role will vary depending on your experience, but you will always work under the supervision of the laboratory staff. You will primarily shadow the lab staff as they perform various tasks, but you will also gain experience interacting with patients, recording information, quality assurance, administering tests and analysing results. You will observe doctors collect blood samples, use laboratory equipment, and learn different diagnostic techniques, as well as appropriate data handling.
What skills do I need to be a Laboratory Intern?
Interns with an interest in lab chemistry, microbiology or haematology will find this placement very interesting. Any students or graduates who can demonstrate expertise or proven skills in a particular area may be able to do extra tasks under supervision. You will be asked to send your CV/resume to demonstrate your suitability for this internship before your placement is approved.
There are no language requirements for this placement, although any level of French or Arabic would be helpful.
