Project Summary

What is the Multimedia Internship in Peru all about?

If you want to support biodiversity conservation and sustainable development while gaining experience and possibly earning credits towards your degree, this is the multimedia internship for you.

This multimedia internship takes place on a national park in the remote south-eastern Peruvian Amazon. The location is well known and will emerge you in an incredible environment.

During this internship, you will learn about the challenges and solutions to protecting the rainforest by working alongside scientific researchers and sustainable development experts.

While gaining these invaluable insights in the field, you will be trained by a professional Multimedia Content Creator to tell compelling environmental stories through written, photographic, film and design media.

You will be surrounded by an international team of like-minded people, all driven by their passion to create a sustainable future for the Amazon.

Why choose this Multimedia Internship programme in Peru?

By the end of the multimedia internship, you will have a portfolio of work that will showcase your written, photographic, video and design skills to future employers.

What skills do I need to be an Intern on this Multimedia programme?

To participate in this multimedia internship, it’s essential to be physically fit. Trekking through the jungle is hard work. You will encounter many diverse challenges, and for this reason ,there are some basic requirements you need to be accepted in this internship program:

  • Independently follow verbal and visual instructions.
  • Traverse over uneven and muddy terrain on a daily basis. You may be required to walk up to 10 km (6.2 miles) a day, while carrying a heavy pack in a hot, humid environment.
  • Enjoy being outdoors all day in all types of weather as you will often be exposed to intense and highly variable weather conditions, which may include sudden tropical storms.
  • Be comfortable about being outdoors in the potential presence of wild and possibly dangerous animals, snakes, and insects.
  • Be able to get in and out of a small boat and ride seated while wearing a personal flotation device.
  • Be able to carry personal daily supplies, such as lunch, water, photography and filming equipment, insect repellent, and sunblock. Some assistance will also be needed in getting supplies from the boat or van, however, heavy lifting is not required for those who cannot manage it.

The Location

Where will I work in Peru?

You will arrive in Cusco and spend your first two days in Cusco, where you will be given an orientation. Cusco is known for being the historical capital of the Inca Empire.

The majority of the time, you will be based inside the national park.

You will stay in a comfortable jungle lodge and have up-close wildlife encounters. The camp is remote and secluded, sitting on the bank of a river and in the middle of the tropical forest. You will experience some breathtaking views and unforgettable wildlife while on this internship.
