Childcare Volunteer Projects
You can share your favourite stories, songs and games that children can learn and enjoy during your childcare volunteer project, and the local staff can use once you have returned home. You will have great fun playing games, preparing and serving meals, reading stories, leading sports activities and more. You may even be asked to lead small group activities, to provide one on one support to an individual child or to run age appropriate sessions on topics such as handwashing.
Millions of children around the world do not have access to a safe place to spend time when their parents are working, to learn basic childhood skills or to recover after an illness before returning home to unsanitary living conditions. The day care and community centres provide more than play time, as they offer a safe haven plus a nutritious snack or meal that their parents cannot afford and for those that have no family to support them. You can play a small part by helping local projects to provide services to communities where it is most needed.
Projects where you can focus on childcare include volunteering in a children’s centre in Bolivia, HIV/AIDS Education and Orphan Daycare Project in South Africa and another in the Philippines. For those of you studying our Early Childhood Development Internship in Africa may appeal.
You don’t need specific childcare skills or qualifications on most of our childcare projects but those with experience are most welcome. A willingness to help where needed, a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and completion of a police background check are all that are required to become a childcare volunteer.
Join us on one of our childcare projects and relieve the burden on the local staff as well as sharing your childhood favourites with children and staff in our destinations. What a truly rewarding experience for you all.
