World Love for Dolphin Day

The 13th February was World Love For Dolphin Day, a day created  in 2003 to campaign against the brutal killing of dolphins in Taiji, Japan. This event occurs for 6 months every year, when dolphin hunters herd wild dolphins from the ocean’s open waters into a hidden shallow bay, now infamously known as the cove. The hunters capture entire pods to either be sent to aquariums and marine parks or killed for meat. The project showed their support by teaching and marine volunteers went around to hotels and restaurants in Lambiani to create awareness about this campaign as well as handing out information leaflets about the state of the dolphin “chases” in Kizimkazi.
