Art, Design & Architecture FAQs

How do I get an art internship abroad with Kaya?

Start by exploring your preferred creative or design-focused internships and choose a program that matches your goals. Once you’ve chosen a placement, complete the short online application form, and a placement advisor will contact you to guide you through the next steps. You’ll receive support from your first inquiry to your arrival abroad.

What internships can I do as an art major?

You can take part in a wide variety of creative internships abroad through Kaya. Opportunities include art and design, photography, or architecture projects. You could teach art to children, create visual campaigns for NGOs, or work on sustainable design initiatives. Each placement allows you to apply your artistic skills while contributing to meaningful community work.

Are architecture and design internships paid?

Design and architecture internships abroad are usually unpaid because they focus on learning, skill development, and supporting community-led projects rather than paid employment. At Kaya Responsible Travel, we emphasize ethical placements that prioritize sustainability and local impact. These internships are designed to help you learn from professionals in sustainable building and urban design while contributing to projects that benefit local communities.

Although you won’t receive a salary, your program fees go toward housing, supervision, and project support, ensuring that the experience remains responsible and well-supported. In return, you’ll gain hands-on experience, new technical and cultural insights, and a meaningful understanding of how architecture can create real change.

Does GPA matter for art, design, and architecture internships?

Kaya does not set strict GPA requirements for its internships. What matters most is your enthusiasm, relevant skills, and willingness to learn.

How long is an architecture internship abroad, or any other internship?

Most internships through Kaya, including architecture internships, typically last from 2 to 12 weeks, depending on the project and your availability. Many interns choose longer placements to gain more practical experience, while shorter stays are ideal for students looking to fit an internship into a summer break.

If you’re unsure which duration is best for you, our team can help you find a program length that fits your goals and schedule. You can also request a brochure to explore different options and learn more about what each internship offers.
