- Childcare Centre Volunteer Project in Costa Rica
What is the Childcare Volunteer Placement in San Jose, Costa Rica project all about?
Volunteer in Costa Rica and get hands-on childcare experience with children who truly benefit from international instruction. The centre provides daycare services for families with limited resources. Volunteers will play a key role in supporting local staff to ensure the children feel safe, nurtured and receive high quality learning and development opportunities.
Why choose this childcare volunteer project?
Volunteers allow children to receive engaging and enriching classes and sessions, with more 1:1 support. By attending intensive Spanish lessons prior to the placement, volunteers will be able to communicate with the children and local staff more effectively and learn about the Costa Rican education system. Volunteers’ new language skills and rewarding teaching/childcare experiences will be great additions to their CV/resume.
Role of the childcare volunteer
Exact activities depend on the experience and interests of the volunteer and the needs of the centre. Volunteers may be asked to teach basic English, assist with lessons and lead art and crafts activities. Volunteers may be responsible for helping out with general tasks around the centre, as well as help prepare recreational activities. You will receive support if you are asked to do something outside of your skill set. Volunteers are encouraged to be creative and to bring any of their own personal skills to work with the children. New ideas are always welcome!
What skills do I need to be a childcare volunteer in Costa Rica?
Good organisation and communication skills are important and a love of children is a must! Volunteers who are TEFL trained or have experience in a pre-school or educational setting will be highly valued. A CV/Resume is required for acceptance onto this project.
A basic level of Spanish is required (Independent User Level B1of CEFR). You will receive one week of intensive Spanish lessons prior to the commencement of your placement- additional weeks of lessons can be arranged for an additional cost.
