Why choose this Experience India & Volunteering project?
Gaining experience of the different elements of life in India and some of the most important cultural elements really helps to put things into perspective when participating in the volunteering elements of your trip. The volunteering activities work with children from low income communities such as the slums of Jaipur, and your participation helps bring more English into the classrooms and assists local workers with their duties. The community members that you volunteer with, really benefit from practising with native speakers and learning the games, songs and activities that you share with them.
Role of the Community Volunteer
You will join an existing supported project and work alongside local staff. You will support them with their activities and run games, songs and lessons (the local staff will guide you on the content and approach, and you will often work in pairs depending on the size of your tour group). You will also join in with group activities. The exact project depends on the needs of the local projects at the time of your placement.
What skills do I need to be a Community Volunteer in India?
No specific skills are required to enable you to join this tour and volunteering. However, all volunteers are expected to be able to work with a local team, happy to get involved where needed and friendly. Please bring lots of enthusiasm with you! You will have a short telephone interview with a Kaya Placement Advisor before being accepted onto the project and you will be asked to provide a copy of your CV/resume.
WHY JOIN THE PROJECT
