Role of the Psychology Intern
During the Psychology Internship in Jamaica, participants will be placed at a center offering counseling and therapy services. As an intern, you will interact with patients of all ages, focussing on issues such as low self-esteem, self-expression, lack of identity and personal development.
Some of the activities you will be doing include:
1:1 sessions
Conducting group sessions
Substance abuse counseling
Monitoring medication
Outdoor activities and excursions with young people, such as playing group games, going to the park, the cinema or a field trip.

What skills do I need to be a Psychology Intern?
This psychology internship in Jamaica is suitable for medical or psychology students or graduates. Those already working within the field are also welcome. The internship can be tailored to your specific interests, provided they align with the needs of the clinic. As this internship involves working with vulnerable young people, all interns will be assessed for their suitability. You will be asked to submit a resume / CV alongside your application and you will have to go through an interview to ensure the best possible match. You will also be required to supply us with a criminal background certificate.

The Psychology Internship in Jamaica is based on the outskirts of Kingston, the capital of Jamaica and former home to the world’s most famous Reggae singer, Bob Marley! You will be within close proximity to shops and restaurants
What to do in your spare time
You can spend your free time and weekends however you wish. The local team will be on-hand to recommend and assist with the planning of excursions. There are also often local events that you can attend, where you can really get to know the locals and immerse yourself in the Jamaican culture! Tour options include: A tour of Kingston, Charles Town Maroon Tour, and a Blue Mountain Highlights Tour.
