Volunteer in Eswatini
Kaya’s projects in Eswatini are suitable for people with many different skill sets and interests. If you want to work within the community, get hands on and active with the schools renovation and building project or Sports Development Project. If it is wildlife that interests you and you are looking for research to support your studies then the conservation internship could be ideal. If you have knowledge of a specialist area and want to share your skills, we have various internships in areas such as nutrition or international development that could be ideal for you.
Despite the country’s stability and peaceful reputation, Eswatini has very high HIV rates and soaring unemployment affecting many of its population. Therefore volunteers are in demand to support ongoing projects which all work towards the aim to help reduce such issues with a focus on small business development and projects centred around primary care for OVCs.
In your free time, visit the the must-see sights in Eswatini such as the Hlane Royal National Park, Eswatini’s largest protected area. The park is home to lion, white rhino and elephant as well as diverse bird life. Visit Mlilwane Wildlife sanctuary, a pioneer conservation area in the ‘valley of heaven’, perfect for outdoor lovers with a variety of activities including walking trails, land rover game drives and mountain biking. Alternatively, immerse yourself in culture, take a guided tour and watch a spectacular performance at the Matsamo cultural village. Make sure you don’t forget to sample the traditional warming stew served at local markets.
Why not add on a week extension to your trip and travel a bit further afield; from Eswatini it is easy to travel to South Africa’s Kruger National park to see the ‘Big 5’ or visit the marvellous beaches of Mozambique. Both are within easy reach by bus.
Join us at Kaya and intern or volunteer in Eswatini on a project. Your volunteer work will have a positive impact and you can give something back to Eswatini’s small but warm-hearted community.
