Kaya’s projects in Eswatini are suitable for people with many different skill sets and interests. If you want to work within the community, get hands-on and active with sports volunteering, construction and development or business development, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer in Eswatini. If it is wildlife that interests you and you are looking for research to support your studies, then a conservation internship is ideal for you. If you have knowledge in a specialist area and want to share your skills, we have various internships in Africa in specialty areas, such as nutrition and international development.
Despite the country’s stability and peaceful reputation, Eswatini has very high HIV rates and soaring unemployment affecting a large portion of the population. Therefore, volunteers are in demand to support ongoing projects aimed at reducing these issues, with a specific focus on small business development and projects centered around primary care for OVCs. Our volunteer projects and internships in Eswatini will not only be good for your CV/resume, they will make a conscious difference in the world.
When you aren’t doing project work, you can visit the must-see sights in Eswatini, such as the Hlane Royal National Park, Eswatini’s largest protected area that is home to lions, white rhino and elephants as well as a diverse range of bird species. You can also visit Mlilwane Wildlife sanctuary, a pioneer conservation area in the ‘valley of heaven’, which is perfect for outdoor lovers, with walking trails, land rover game drives and mountain biking. Alternatively, if you want to immerse yourself in culture, you can take a guided tour and watch a spectacular performance at the Matsamo cultural village. Don’t forget to sample the traditional warming stew served at local markets too!
You can even add a week extension to your trip and travel a bit further afield; from Eswatini it is easy to travel to South Africa’s Kruger National park to see the “Big 5” or visit the marvelous beaches of Mozambique. Both are within easy reach by bus!
