If you’re travelling to a country but don’t know how to speak the lingo then why not start your trip by doing one of Kaya’s intensive language courses. Not only are the language classes great fun, but being able to speak the language in the country you are visiting can only serve to enhance your cultural experience allowing you to interact more freely with the locals.
Language Course Projects
Learning a language in a country where it is widely spoken not only develops your confidence in handling different situations it also totally immerses you in the language. You will hear it spoken everyday, and will often have to respond, increasing your listening skills. You will need to use the language you get around, as well as communicate with your homestay family improving your speaking skills and pronunciation. And you will be able to read local newspapers, leaflets and magazines to improve your reading and comprehension. All key elements a new or improving language learner or such as you needs to master!
Some of Kaya’s projects require that you speak the local language so start your travels with a language course before commencing your volunteer placement. Others have a minimum requirement and offer lessons that run alongside your volunteering. Kaya assesses its projects in line with the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR) – why don’t you speak to a Kaya Advisor to find out your level?
Kaya currently offer Spanish and Medical Spanish courses in Ecuador, Peru and Costa Rica so if you are visiting Latin America you can learn the language whilst you’re already in the country and start practicing straight away!
Whether you are a complete beginner, intermediate or advanced learner we can arrange individual or group lessons to match your needs. So contact a Kaya advisor and discover how you can develop your language skills abroad.
