Group Programs & University Relations Assistant

Organization: Kaya Responsible Travel
Location: Northampton, MA
Hours: Full-time (Exempt) 40 hours/week

Position description

The Group Programs & University Relations Assistant will work closely with our University Relations & Customized Groups Team based in our Northampton, MA office. This entry level role will focus on two central areas: helping to develop and implement customized group programs and assisting in university outreach strategy and implementation. This position requires an ambitious, organized individual who is willing to express their ideas with the goal of growing Kaya’s programs. The successful candidate must be passionate about international travel and service and willing to adjust to constantly shifting priorities. This position is perfect for an individual who is looking to break into the field of international education and who has a strong desire to learn and grow with the Kaya Team.


SPECIFIC DUTIES
Customized Group Program Coordination:

  • Assist with managing administrative paperwork related to the development and delivering of group proposals
  • Liaise with Kaya in-country program partners and providers to help deliver proposals
  • Assist in responding to questions, requests and needs of university contacts and partners
  • Provide pre-departure materials and assistance for approved programs
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to approved programs, students and faculty

University Relations:

  • Assist with marketing communications aimed at academic institutions (newsletters, social media posts, etc.)
  • Assist University Relations Team with travel arrangements and logistics
  • May be asked to represent Kaya at some study abroad fairs or university visits
  • Help identify academic departments or new universities interested in Kaya programs

General:

  • Always work to promote responsible travel, service-learning, and community engagement
  • Collaborate and contribute to team activities, projects, and working environment, and support other team members when required
  • Other tasks and duties as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift or manoeuvre up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • International travel for work, pleasure, volunteering, or study abroad
  • Bachelor’s degree (any field)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • US driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience participating in a service-learning/volunteer program abroad
  • Travel experience in Africa, Asia, or Latin America
  • Experience with study abroad or faculty-led programming
  • Public speaking/presenting
  • A strong understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Experience engaging historically underrepresented students
  • Experience with Google Suite & Mac Suite
  • Strong desire to break into the field of international education

Marketing Coordinator

Organization: Kaya Responsible Travel
Location: Manchester City Center (UK)
Hours: Full-time (37 hours/week, 9am-5:30pm)
Start Date: October, 2019


Position description

We are currently searching for a passionate, committed individual with a love for travel to be responsible for the marketing and communications of Kaya’s volunteer, internship and study abroad programs. You will report to the Programs Director.


SPECIFIC DUTIES
Website content management:

  • Develop and manage website content such as videos, blogs, articles and documents to improve user experience and drive traffic
  • Apply SEO techniques to optimize website content
  • Manage library of images and videos

Marketing mateirals management:

  • Alongside Programs Director, develop and maintain marketing materials on and offline
  • Manage inventory of print promotional materials
  • As brand guardian, ensure all external materials comply with Kaya brand guidelines

Social Media:

  • Manage and monitor Kaya social media accounts such as facebook, instagram and twitter to present and share Kaya values and promote kaya programs
  • Look for ways to improve social media engagement and reach

3rd party referral listing:

  • Manage relationships and contracts with relevant marketing websites that provide referral listings
  • Develop and manage content for Kaya listings on 3rd party referral websites
  • Monitor ongoing performance of paid listings

Newsletters:

  • Develop and manage newsletter content and campaigns
  • Manage email lists

Fairs and events:

  • Manage relationships and contracts with fair and event organizers where Kaya promotes its programs
  • Alongside Placement advising team, manage fair attendance and logistics

PR:

  • Manage external communications with journalists and industry influencers
  • Draft submissions for industry sector awards
  • Develop ways to further promote Kaya’s responsible travel message

Marketing Strategy and Analysis:

  • Develop, deliver and maintain a marketing calendar of marketing activities
  • Conduct competitor analysis to inform the Kaya team of trends or ideas that could impact Kaya’s business
  • Use analytics to evaluate marketing performance and identify opportunities and weaknesses
  • Actively participate in the planning and implementation of Kaya’s strategy, on an annual and ongoing basis
  • Contribute and execute yearly marketing and social media strategic plans.
  • Identifying new opportunities for marketing

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience with volunteering/ study abroad/ responsible travel – ideally having completed an international experience in a developing country
  • A passion for travel
  • Educated to degree level, preferably in a marketing-related subject
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Well organised with good attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker
  • Interested in international development issues / news
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Excel and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Social media and marketing experience
  • An appreciation and understanding of photography
  • WordPress editing experience

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary – £18,000
  • Holidays – 30 days per year
  • Working hours – Mon-Fri 9-5.30 (flexible)
