Molly’s Vietnam Experience

Molly S.
Volunteer Name:Molly S.
Project Attended:Climate Change Internship
Country Attended:Vietnam
What task on your project did you most enjoy? Being able to participate in the READY event in Nam Dinh province. Red river delta adaptation and youth project (READY) aims to promote initiatives in Climate Change Adaptation in the Red River Delta and strengthen the leading role of youth in decision making with regard to climate change and environmental projection. It was great to have a taste of the influence and support the project provides to small coastal communities in Vietnam which are already struggling with sea level rise etc. as a result of climate change.
What was your greatest achievement? Helping the organisation meet a deadline for a new waste management project.
What advice would you give future participants? Be proactive, if you don't have anything to do, ask what you can help with, follow up for feedback, get involved with office life and make an effort to integrate and get to know people - a great way is to join them at lunch time.
What was your most memorable moment? The party the office throw for me on my last day!

Testimonial

“I think if you are looking to volunteer abroad or intern abroad, Kaya have been beyond helpful! Always on the other end of the phone if you need them and very quick to respond to emails! When I was in Vietnam there was a huge and wonderful support network out there for me which really helped me settle in, introduce me to new interns and get a feel for Hanoi. This really made my experience all the more enjoyable and as a result the other interns and I always made plans for the weekends to do little trips or to wonder about the city. It also meant I was trying new food right up to the day I left which was amazing!”
