Summer’s Remote Internship Experience

I am so thankful for the opportunity of participating in the placement and I love working with the students at the center and meeting with my local buddies. It was great learning about the Vietnamese culture and I was able to compare it to my own culture. I also found the locals that I’ve met on the program to be so caring and kind. My favorite part of this internship was gaining experience as a teacher and meeting all these amazing students. My greatest achievement was seeing my students enjoy what I was teaching and knowing that I was doing a good job.

Experiencing the remote internship gave me a sense of fulfillment as I learned a lot regarding the laws in South Africa. I was assigned to exciting tasks and it was such an ease to work with the staff. It was great to get to know the local team and I enjoyed talking to my chat buddy because I was constantly learning from them. It would have been great to be in South Africa in person but even if it was just a virtual visit, it was already awesome. I wrote a research paper on abuse of foreign domestic housemaids as well as a letter of intent on train accidents which I consider my achievements during my internship!

I find the GlobeSmart tool to be a great site that gave me lots of information and kept me interested about Moroccan life. The local staff, the in country directors and project supervisors were great, they kept the communication line open and I have received all the support I needed for the internship. My language class was also excellent and very helpful. Through the online internship, I have achieved confidence in speaking a foreign language.
