Creative Arts Volunteer Projects
You can volunteer on a project where children are encourage to learn more about art, and to express themselves using their creative skills. You can do this through running art lessons and even helping to improve the appearance of the school buildings through the creation of murals. If you prefer to work with adults and have great ideas about crafts that can be sold to generate an income, working with individuals and small groups on livelihoods activities may be perfect for you. You will present a design, demonstrate how to make it and discuss marketing and pricing options with the sellers, an incredible way to stretch your creative know-how.
Children lack opportunities to participate in exciting and inspiring arts and crafts activities so sharing your ideas and techniques with the students will be well received. Moving away from standard drawing and painting, especially within the lines, is rare for many children. Arts and crafts are essential in providing sources of income for the urban poor and having access to new ideas and techniques is invaluable to enable sellers to promote new products and to make their designs stand out.
Projects that are looking for volunteers with a creative nature, include our Arts and Crafts for sustainable livelihoods internship which is available in South Africa and Swaziland, our arts based education placement in South Africa and many of our community placements working with children.
Anyone who has a creative vision and is able to communicate this to others will absolutely love these placements. We just ask that you are creative, can explain things in a simple manner and are patient. If you are creative and studying international development or arts these projects may provide a good practical basis on which to base your theoretical studies.
Join us on a creative arts project and have an amazing experience inspiring others in their learning or income generation activities through sharing your ideas and techniques.
