Environmental Conservation Volunteer Projects
As an environmental conservation volunteer you will have a hands on role weeding, digging, clearing and planting. You will help with building and fixing pathways, fences and walls, important in protecting habitats, as well as in providing humans access to nature without causing harm. You may become involved in environmental education, working with schools and communities to improve understanding about the importance of the natural environment and man’s role in its future.
Our projects are run by people who are passionate about the environment, biodiversity and habitats. In Australia and New Zealand projects vary from the beach, mangroves to city settings while in Latin America there are projects in the Amazon, Andes and Mindo Cloud Forest. You can help these initiatives protect habitats and ecosystems, monitor species, replant in deforested areas and more. Deforestation and loss of habitats leading to a loss of species are global concerns, and many are occurring in some of the world’s most spectacular locations. Click here to meet one of the local people involved in reforestation and urban greening.
Projects that are popular with our environmental conservation volunteers include our placements in Australia, the Manu Biosphere in Peru or the Mindo Cloud Forest in Ecuador. Our permaculture internship in South Africa or a green energy internship in China are a great way to compliment your studies while our summer camp is an exciting option for younger and older volunteers to learn about the approaches being taken to tackle deforestation through the use of solar cookers, education and tree planting in South Africa.
To join us as an environmental conservation volunteer you just need lots of enthusiasm, a reasonable level of fitness and a love of the outdoors. You will be working as part of a bigger project, so an ability to see the wider picture is useful. The work is labour intensive, hence the need for volunteers. If you are interested in a specific field of environmental science as part of your studies, then let us know and we may be able to match you to a project.
Join us as an environmental conservation volunteer and put your energies to good use by supporting a project working to preserve the national parks, mangroves or forests for future generations.
