It might be a scary thought at the age of 16, but volunteering on one of our projects – for 16 years olds – is a great way to improve your confidence and meet new friends. Plus, it would make a great ‘what-I-did-over-summer’ story when you return back to high school/college.
You may think you need a specific skill set to volunteer with us, but you’d be wrong; we offer a wide variety of volunteer projects. With the help from our experienced placement advisors, you will be matched to a project that is best suited to your abilities, and to a project that excites you.
Take a look at our website to find what type of project you’d like to work on e.g. conservation, community or education. However, if you are unsure on the project type, have a look at the overall page for under 18’s and see which projects stand out for you.
If you have a love for animals, then take a look at our photography conservation project in South Africa. Not many 16 year olds will be able to say that they have developed their photography skills in the Greater Kruger area, observing the Big 5 as well as other animals in their natural habitat. Alternatively, how about working with elephants in Thailand.?
Spending your spare time volunteering on a community project in India would surely make your friends envious. You will be able to get a taste of India and it’s culture whilst working with the local communities and gaining skills that will make your CV stand out such as team working, communication and independence.
In Costa Rica, we have four options for you to choose from where you could help out the locals in their communities:
- Coffee Cooperative for Men in the Community.
- Childcare Centre for Pre-school Children.
- Elementary School Classroom Assistant.
- Turtle Project.
Share your enthusiasm and energy whilst you work alongside staff, following their directions on your chosen project. For more information regarding these four options, take a look at our website.
