Volunteer in the USA
American pop culture is, by far, the most famous worldwide, but its rich and diverse landscape is little known to many. The USA landscape varies across this large country from tropical beaches to alpine peaks, from rolling prairie and barren deserts to dense wilderness areas. America’s history may not be long, but it certainly rich and unique. Whether you are history buff, love the Wild West, or even just love the outdoors, we have just the placement for you!
The focus of this volunteer in the USA program is saving and restoring historic and cultural resources throughout the country with the help of volunteers. Projects include old lighthouses, fire lookout towers, rangers huts and mine cabins, amongst others.
Working alongside a US local preservation organization and the Forest Services, National Parks and Federal Land Management Agencies, this project uses historic preservation funds to save and sustain American historical places for public benefits.
Volunteers will find themselves in the USA most beautiful landscapes working together as a group on hands-on projects. For 2021, we currently have an option for Arizona or Colorado.
As a volunteer, you will learn craftsmanship from field-experience managers and preservation specialist, as well as peer-learning. Training, tools and equipments alongside a stunning campsite are provided in each location.
Participants enjoy camaraderie and learn practical skills while keeping history alive!
Life outside the Volunteer in the USA project
During the week, our group will be provided single tents and facilities at a campground near our worksite, with a camp team providing daily meals. We’ll enjoy evenings around a campfire, relaxing, sharing stories, playing games or just stargazing.
Each Friday, the group will head to a new location for the weekend, visiting local sights, hiking, enjoying the landscapes and taking part in fun and adventurous activities. Weekends will be spent at lodges and hotels with our meals at local eateries.
